My name is Kathy Friend and until recently my husband, three children and I were able to travel the world as an Army family. During our time in Belgium, we became very interested in World War I history – there were monuments, cemeteries and battlefields everywhere. Now that my husband is retired, we have settled in Virginia but frequently travel back to Queens, where we grew up, to visit family and friends, and to visit war-related monuments, gravesites, squares and triangles all over the borough.
